Film Review: Frozen (2013)

Frozen (2013)
No spoilers!

Frozen, was released in 2013 from Disney Pixar. Using an animation style that follows Disney's most recent work (such as Tangled and Wreck-it Ralph) and captures characters in a whole new light by using a sleeker, more polished form of CGI (Computer-generated-images). The film centres around a young princess, who finds it hard to control her icy powers and ends up growing up locked away from the rest of the world incase anyone gets hurt. Her younger sister, Anna, finds it difficult to deal with and doesn't understand why she can't see her sister. Elsa's coronation exposes her to the outside world and well, I can't say it goes according to plan but you'll see why when you watch it! Throughout the film Elsa and Anna encounter many loveable characters that make this film even more enjoyable to watch.

Frozen also features some very catchy songs such as 'Let It Go' sung by Idina Menzel (the voice of Elsa), you can watch it here and Demi Lovato's cover here. It's an amazingly powerful song and you should definitely check it out to get a taster of what is to come!

Now for the techy bits...
The film took approximately 4 years to make, as the art and design team trekked to Norway to study ice (as it was the focus of the film) and get a sense as to how ice can be manipulated, as well as how it refracts light. New programs were developed for the film, such as 'Tonic', a hair tool that allows there to be a block of hair instead of there being individual strands (Fun fact: Elsa's character has 420,000 strands of hair which is why it looks incredibly realistic!). There was an estimated 150 million dollar budget, and it grossed a massive 301 million dollars - So I guess you could say it lived up to its expectations.

All in all I give this film a 10/10 for its gorgeous animation, endearing characters, engaging storyline, and overall happy feel - if not a little sad at points. It is easy to say that Frozen is one of Disney Pixar's most stunning pieces to date and I can't wait to see more at this standard. (Quit doing this to me Disney, I haven't got enough money to go to the Cinema all the time, haha!)

On a scale of 1-10, i give Frozen 10/10 cupcakes!

Thanks for reading!
